BSNL plans to roll out 3G by March ’06

Financial Express quotes BSNL chief AK Sinha saying the company is set to start offering 3G mobile services by the end of FY 2005. It plans to launch EDGE by the end of this month.

BSNL is preparing the tender for 3G network which will be out in the next three to four weeks. The tender will comprise 40 million to 60 million lines, of which around 30% lines will be dedicated for 3G service. Going by the estimated cost of Rs 4,000 per line in rolling out a 3G network, the tender value could surpass Rs 20,000 crores.
