3.2 mn GSM subscribers added in June

GSM representative body COAI declared that the nine GSM operators added 3.2 million subscribers in June, taking the total GSM customer base to 78.5 million.
GSM mobile growth has remained stable at 4.2% in June, the same as in May. The subscriber base grew from 72.2 million users in April, to 75.29 million in May and reached 78.47 million in June.
Bharti = 1.2 million new, 23.07 million total
BSNL = 0.3 million new, 18.29 million total
Hutch = 0.8 million new, 17.54 million total
Among the circles, the growth rate was as follows.
Category C circles grew at 5.8%
Category B circles grew at 4.7%
Category A circles grew at 4.4%
Within C circles, the North-East registered the highest growth at 10.1%, followed by the Assam circle at 7.5%.
Within A circles, Tamil Nadu was ahead at 5.3%, followed by Gujarat at 4.6%.
Within B circles, Madhya Pradesh recorded the highest growth at 9.2%, followed by West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands at 6.1%.
