Bharti, Reliance ARPU static

After continuous drops in the past few quarters, ARPU of Airtel and Reliance remained stable in the quarter ended June 30.
Bharti’s wireless ARPU remained stable at Rs 441 in the first quarter compared with Rs 442 in the previous quarter.
Reliance Communications reported a marginal growth in wireless ARPU to Rs 379 in the quarter compared with Rs 375 in the fourth quarter 2005-06.
Bharti has lower minutes of usage per user than Reliance. But Bharti’s average revenue per minute (ARPM) has been higher than Reliance Communications’.
Due to certain tariff rebalancing and capping free minutes on certain schemes, Reliance Communications saw a sharp drop in its minutes of usage, leading to an increase in ARPM in this quarter to Re 0.77 compared with Re 0.70 in the fourth quarter of 2005-06.
