Aircel to provide GPRS in another one month

Category: VAS | 2 Comments | Posted on October 15, 2006

I first checked the date of this news.

When all other Indian operators are gearing up for the launch of 3G data services, Aircel is planning to launch GPRS. Does anyone know the reasons behind this delay?

Aircel

Aircel has over 3 million subscribers and operates in the Chennai, Tamil Nadu and North East circles. Malaysia’s largest telco Maxis owns a majority stake in Aircel.

Aircel has a big market cap in the rural segment in south india.

    Even though other players are
gearing up for 3G ,Aircel is just planning to offer GPRS. Sounds funny. But it seems to be a good time to launch GPRS in the rural areas.

Aircel is the next telecom giant operator in the country. Also, lately with their new Pocket internet launch they have really taken the country by a storm, targeting what appeals to the youth with their Facebook applications and easy search engine Yahoo Search! They definitely have a long way to go and is also educating the country about services that are now available.
