Mobile payment service mChek launched in Delhi

Airtel post-paid users in Delhi can now pay their mobile phone bill from the mobile itself by using mChek’s newly launched mobile payment service.

mChek mChek is a payment system using mobile phones. Currently any credit card issued by any bank can be used with mChek. mChek transactions will be reflected as any other transaction in your credit card statement.

If you are a post-paid Airtel user in Delhi, you might have received the following messages.

Airtel presents a complimentary bill payment service on SMS. For details send MCHEK to 170(free).

On sending the above message, you get a 3-SMS reply with the following message:

(1/3) Airtel presents the World’s first Mobile Bill Payment Service using mChek. Simply pay your bills over an SMS. Register your valid Visa/Master Credit Card.

(2/3) Just send MCHEK to 458(toll-free) or visit www.mchek.com & follow instructions to register your Airtel mobile. mChek is Visa Certified & absolutely Safe.

(3/3) This Facility is available to you Free of Cost. Thank you and have a pleasant day.

    The latest entrant into this space is NXTPay from TNGicube. You can check out NXTpay at http://www.nxtpay.com.

    So now the following are the current players in the market.

    1) Paymate
    2) NGPAY
    3) Mchek
    4) ITZCASH
    5) Obopay
    6) NXTPAY

    Now i assume that it will be be around 2 years from now for mobile payments to gain user acceptance . Anyway the one who acquires the maximum customers by this time will become the king and rest of them would be prospective aquistion targets for mastercard/Vis or a paypal or a bank or even online companies like yahoo or google!
    Anyway lets keep watching this space for more!

    Make easy way to cancel the registered debite/credit card from once number. Learn to call center about mchek. Tell them to guide properly to customer

    Would have loved to know some user adoption stats on the services. Apart from mobile adoption in the nation what other reasons does a prospect see in using the mobile to pay for services and bills?
